Reinforced concrete (RC) frames are commonly built together with shear walls. In high seismicity regions, constructing walls along the frame’s height is proven ineffective. Thus, in numerous studies, using at a certain beneficial, and this kind of structure popularly known as curtailed However, area above could suffer significant deformation under seismic load upgrading performance those upper parts needed. study, 2-dimension RC frame building improved by installing buckling-restrained braces (BRBs). The response performed through non-linear dynamic analysis an open-licensed software, STERA_3D. To determine ideal number location BRBs walls, classical genetic algorithm exercised Python language programming. parameters involved optimizations inter-story drifts, BRBs, damage indices surround frames. result shows that configuration resulted from optimization reduce excessive amount displacement height.
